How to Get to Heaven

Heaven is real. To get there, pause to consider four things:

Life is Short.

James 4:13-14, “Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go
to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and
make a profit.  Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.
You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”

This earth has been around for thousands of years:

• Billions of people have lived on it
• Empires have been made
• Dreams of have been dreamed

…and then there’s you.

You have a life to be lived. But in the scope of what is eternity, or what is your dot in human history, your life is incredibly short. We can sometimes think our life lasts for a significant amount of time.

But really, it doesn't.

Death is Sure.

Hebrews 9:27, "And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment."

We can avoid a lot of things in life. We can avoid people, places, pursuits. But the one event that people run from, flee from, and often don’t want to discuss is death.  It's not a pleasant discussion topic, but in reality, millions of people around the world are dying every month.

Did you know that around the world on average there are:

• 56, 540, 896 deaths in the year
• 4, 679, 211 deaths per month
• 153, 417 deaths per day
• 6, 392 deaths per hour
• 107 deaths per minute
• 1.8 deaths per second

Sin the Cause.

Romans 3:23, “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;”

Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The Bible says we have a real problem. That problem is sin.  We can’t achieve the perfection required of us in order to have a relationship with a perfect God.  Because we’re imperfect sinners, we’re hopeless.

The Bible says the payment of our sin is death.  Death is separation, and because we’re sinners, we’re separated from God.  Here on earth, that means no relationship with God; after this life, we’re separated from God in a horrible, real place called hell (Rev. 20:15).

If people are not forgiven of their sin debt, they will spend forever paying for their sin in hell.

Christ the Cure.

1 Corinthians 15:3,4 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”

1 Peter 2:24, “…and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”

God had an awesome plan all along to take care of your sin.

The solution was His Son, and His name was Jesus.  God the Son became just like us. The only difference is Jesus never sinned.

That gave Jesus the right to take our sin on our behalf.  When He was crucified 2,000 years ago, He wasn’t just being crucified, He was taking our sin.  He died on the cross for our sin. They took Jesus and put Him in a tomb, but He didn’t stay dead.  3 days later He rose from the dead, demonstrating victory over sin, hell, death and the grave.

Ready to trust in Christ to save you from your sin?

Trusting in Jesus to save you from your sin and begin a relationship with God is not complicated. It's about believing that Jesus, as God, is the only One able to forgive you of your sin.

In the same way you'd put all your trust in a chair alone to sustain you when you sit on it, you're trusting Jesus alone to save you from your sin.  It's believing that your sin cannot be paid for by you through doing good things, but that Jesus' death on the cross alone is capable of paying for your sin.

Humble your heart, admit that you're a sinner and need forgiveness from God. Believe in Who Jesus is, and trust in Him alone to save you.
