Worship Services Director

Position Type: Part Time

Ministry Description

We believe that worship through singing is a biblical practice and that it should be conducted skillfully, humbly, with structure/order, and with theological precision.  The individual in the position of Worship Services Director, therefore, administrates the worship team ministry and coordinates details for Sunday morning worship services and special services, to foster an environment where the church family may corporately practice different postures of worship.

Reports to: Executive Pastor

Overview of Areas of Responsibility

  • Administrates (recruiting, scheduling, and training) the worship team
  • Crafting elements of Sunday morning services together with the Teaching and Executive Pastors
  • Creative oversight of all special services (i.e. Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve, etc)
  • Creative development and usage of liturgy, modern and ancient songs and hymns, original material (if applicable), Scripture readings, and various media elements
  • Scheduling and rehearsing special music
  • Leading weekly worship team rehearsals
  • Conducting semiannual team training sessions in tandem with the Tech Ministry Team
  • Ensuring the worship team has adequate resources for rehearsing music (i.e. practice recordings, access to digital copies of the music, utilizing Services App, etc)
  • Updating the process of bringing new volunteers onto the team

Essential Administrative Assistant Functions

  • Email Organization. We expect timely and courteous responses to all church email accounts that you are responsible for maintaining.  This also includes but is not limited to our mass-emailing for the weekly email, special announcements, prayer requests, etc.
  • Planning Center oversight. The Worship Services Director must be familiar with the “Services” module, as this is our portal for scheduling the worship team, organizing elements of Sunday morning worship services, and connecting the various team members with their needed resources.
  • Together Time oversight. Fellowship, Worship, Prayer, Q/As, Baptisms, and Communion are scheduled and communicated in advance.
  • Print Materials. Printing music for the worship team.
  • Updating ministry resources. Works with the Tech Team Ministry Leader to utilize new equipment and technology to continually streamline and update worship services.
  • Ministry Leader Coordination and Communication. Work with the Media and Facility Coordinator to ensure effective communication is happening, specifically in venues such as the Ministry Coordination Team, and the communication that occurs as a result of that.

Education, Experience, and Biblical Qualifications

This position requires:

  • A joyful, servant spirit
  • The successful individual will need to possess a solid, Christ-honoring work ethic and possess a passion for excellence in administration.
  • Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior.
  • Skill in vocal or instrumental abilities
  • Experience performing before crowds or leading corporate worship on a volunteer basis
  • Familiarity with modern and ancient worship music and a desire to learn new songs
  • Selectivity and tact in music selection for sing-ability and theological accuracy
  • Ability to constructively encourage others in their musical abilities and teach where necessary
  • Experience in people relations
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
  • Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and the capacity to learn new software (Photoshop, iMovie, others)

An Overview of What the Elders Are Asking of You:

  1. Demonstrate submissiveness to the Eldership of Fellowship Bible Church in all areas, always striving to uphold the Elder Council and seeking the success of our church vision. This requires all ministries to serve one another to see the growth of the body as a whole.
  2. Proactively pray for the body of Fellowship Bible, its ministries, and members.
  3. As an hourly, part-time Worship Services Director you will be expected to work 20-25 hours a week between office hours, services, ministry, and related activities. Keep in mind there are weeks in the year when this number will go up.
  4. Your presence during some office hours, including but not limited to staff meetings (Tuesdays, 9:30-10:30 am). Sunday responsibilities occur between 8:30 am and 11:30 am.
  5. Endorsement and participation in church endeavors: Sunday morning service, Whiteboard Classes, Connection Groups, etc.
