Ministry Description

The Youth Director is a dedicated and spiritual leader responsible for ministering to the youth community within Fellowship Bible Church. The primary focus of this role is to mentor, guide, and support teenagers and young adults in their faith journey, helping them build a strong relationship with God and each other. The Youth Director plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of community, spiritual growth, and service among the youth congregation.

Core Areas of Responsibility

• Collaboration & Planning. Help develop and execute the strategy to fulfill both the mission, vision and goals of Fellowship Bible Church for the youth connected to FBCs programs.
• Equipping. Help develop and oversee a discipleship pathway for youth affiliated with FBC to continue to grow in Christ as they worship, walk and work for Christ.
• Teaching/Preaching. Teach discipleship and equipping classes, help develop and train ministry leaders, and be available to teach and preach as needed with in the youth ministry of FBC.
• Shepherd Ministries. Oversee the youth focused ministries at FBC, which includes coaching and caring for leaders, training new leaders, and managing curriculum.
• Special Projects/Other Duties. All staff members, including the Youth Director, are expected to model flexibility, a willingness to take part in church activities and initiatives that may be outside their normal day-to-day responsibilities and to model servant leadership in their positions at all times.
• Pastoral Care. The Youth Director is expected to stay informed of the circumstances and needs of the broader church family and to minister accordingly. As to the Youth affiliated with FBC, the Youth Director is expected to provide care which might involve care calls and hospital visits.

Essential Functions

• Youth Ministry Leadership

  • Plan, develop, and implement various youth ministry programs, events, and activities that align with the church's mission and values.

  • Lead and facilitate regular youth group meetings, Bible studies, prayer sessions, and worship gatherings.

  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for young people to explore their faith, ask questions, and express themselves.

• Discipleship and Spiritual Development
  • Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to youth, encouraging personal growth, and fostering a deeper understanding of biblical principles.

    · Facilitate discussions on relevant topics, applying biblical teachings to real-life situations and challenges faced by young people.

  • Organize retreats, camps, and conferences to enhance the spiritual development of youth and promote fellowship.

• Relationship Building

  • Build meaningful relationships with individual youth members, earning their trust, and becoming a mentor and role model in their lives.

  • Engage with parents and guardians to keep them informed about youth activities, progress, and any areas of concern.

  • Collaborate with church leaders, staff, and volunteers to coordinate integrated ministry efforts across different age groups.

• Outreach and Community Engagement

  • Develop outreach programs to connect with and attract new youth members to the church.

  • Engage with schools, local organizations, and community events to establish relationships with young people outside the church.

  • Develop partnerships with other parachurch organizations and church youth groups.

• Team Building and Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to assist in youth ministry activities and events.

  • Develop student leaders

  • Lead and supervise youth ministry team members, providing direction and support for their roles within the youth program.

• Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of youth attendance, activities, and ministry progress.

  • Manage the youth ministry budget, ensuring responsible financial stewardship.

  • Maintain clear communication by and among students, parents/guardians and office staff regarding the youth program’s goals and schedule.

Education, Experience, and Biblical Qualifications

This position requires:

• Qualified to serve as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9

• The successful individual will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic and have the Spirit-given ability to teach and administrate.

• A strong active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior and a clear passion/calling to work with youth.

• Bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Previous experience in youth ministry, leadership, or related area.

• Excellent communication skills, both in speaking, writing, and interpersonal.

• Ability to connect with young people and relate biblical principles to their daily lives.

• Strong organizational and planning abilities for coordinating events and programs.

• Emotional maturity, patience, and understanding to address the needs and challenges of youth.

• Competency with computer software (Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.), and the capacity to learn new software (Photoshop, iMovie, others).

An Overview of What the Elders Are Asking of You

1. Demonstrate submissiveness to the Eldership of Fellowship Bible Church in all areas, always striving to uphold the Elder Council and seeking the success of our church vision. This requires all ministries to serve one another to see the growth of the body as a whole. 


2. Proactively pray for the body of Fellowship Bible, its ministries, and its members. 


3. Provide pastoral care and counseling to the youth of FBC.

4. As a salaried, full-time director you will be expected to work at least 40 hours a week between office hours, services, ministry, and related activities. There are weeks in the year when it could be 50 or 60 hours.

5. Your presence during office hours (Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) unless church responsibilities require you to be offsite and unless it is your day off. This includes staff meetings (Tuesdays, 9:30-10:30 am). 


6. Endorsement and participation in church endeavors such as services, classes, and a Connection Group. 



7. Serve where needed during Sunday morning services, assisting with leadership, planning, and preaching, as requested by the Teaching Pastor. No more than four Sundays are to be missed annually for personal or vacation purposes.

8. Perform Baptisms or other special services upon request.
